  • Neil Takekawa Appointed Chief Operating Officer of the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii

Honolulu - The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii (JCCH) is proud to announce Neil Takekawa has been appointed as chief operating officer of the non-profit organization.

As chief operating officer, Takekawa will be responsible for overall operations of the Cultural Center including, public relations, membership and volunteer management as well as other administrative duties.

Takekawa's 35 years of managerial and executive experience in the private sector will provide invaluable counsel and vision as the Cultural Center continues to serve its membership and future generations. "We are extremely pleased and honored to have Neil join our leadership team at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii," said Lenny Yajima Andrew, president and executive director of the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii.

Prior to serving as chief operating officer for the Blood Bank of Hawaii, Takekawa was vice-president of sales and marketing for Hawaii Superferry, president of Roberts Hawaii, president & chief executive officer of Hawaii Island Air, president of Aloha Island Air and vice president of customer services at Aloha Airlines.

He currently serves on the board of directors for the Japan America Society of Hawaii and is a member of the Hawaii Asia Pacific Association. Takekawa brings to the position a wealth of knowledge about the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii having served on the Cultural Center os board of directors for more than three years.

Takekawa is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at M oa with Bachelor of Science degrees in Financial Accounting and Management.

The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii, a non-profit organization, strives to strengthen our diverse community by educating present and future generations in the evolving Japanese American experience in Hawaii.
