• Goodwill Coming Soon to Kona

Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, Inc. (GIH) will soon be opening a new retail store and donation center in Kona, providing a convenient option for residents to drop off their gently used clothing and household items and local bargain hunters to find great deals.

With a soft opening set for Nov. 4, the store will be located at 74-4786 Kanalani Street in the Kaloko Industrial Park, near Costco. Store hours will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The formal grand opening will be held in the beginning of December.

This will be Goodwill’s second store on Hawaii Island and its ninth statewide. For all locations, visit www.higoodwill.org.

“The opening of the new Kona store will allow us to better serve Hawaii Island,” said Laura Robertson Smith, GIH president and CEO. “This store in combination with our existing Hilo store will give residents on both sides of the island an opportunity to save money and donate their items. More importantly, the new store will create job opportunities and provide job training to area residents.”

Donations help strengthen the community by supporting Goodwill’s job training and placement programs, as well as help to make a healthier planet through recycling and reusing items and reducing what is going into Hawaii’s landfills. Last year, Goodwill served more than 13,000 people through its CARF-accredited education, employment and career development programs, and helped 1,667 people find employment in the local community.
 
Goodwill Industries of Hawaii’s mission is to help people find rewarding jobs and gain financial independence. Supported by its retail operations and financial endeavors, its educational, employment and training programs have provided skills training, employment counseling, job placement and support services since 1959.
