Meditation - An Introductory Weekend
with Shyam

Meditation is the moment you pay attention with clarity. It is a method towards experiencing life the way you want to experience it, curbing emotional attitudes and transforming mental habits. It can be a way of being in the world with joy and gratitude.

Friday, April 24, 5:30-7:30 p.m. (2 hours)
A talk introducing fundamental concepts in eastern meditation and a workshop on the technique of Emotional Breathing (the practice of Pranayama as emotional therapy).

Saturday, April 25, 7:00-9:30 a.m. (2-1/2 hours)
Introduction to Pranayama as a psychological practice and the benefits of Japa Meditation

Sunday, April 26, 7:00-8:45 a.m. (1-3/4 hours)
Introduction to internal practices in yogic meditation. A 30-minute Kirtan will bring the weekend workshop to a close.

Meditation is an ancient tradition for personal development. It has a way of illuminating the eyes with a new light making the world shine brighter.

About the teacher
Shyam was raised as a monk and yogic priest in his parent’s ashram on the coast of southern California and Hawaii. His teaching carries the flavor of his disciplined life as a monk and the laid back quality of his childhood spent at the beach surfing. For many years he taught courses and ran a meditation program at UCLA. Shyam has a dedicated international following from California to India and the Midwest. His packed classes at Bryan Kest’s Los Angeles studio are recognized as being mentally, spiritually and physically demanding, however, he is best known for his Meditation Immersions and leading retreats across the globe. He has published numerous articles and poetry in leading American journals and his first book,The Dust is Wise, will be out next year.

Workshop fee
You are encouraged to participate in all three sessions. Cost is $135 for entire weekend.
