The Special Education Center of Hawaii (SECOH) is holding its second annual Haunted House at its Ewa Beach Community Center, located at the Ewa Pointe Marketplace at 91-1001 Kaimalie St. The fundraising event takes place on Friday and Saturday, October 28 and 29 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Admission is $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. Children ages five and under are admitted free.
Planned, prepared and executed by the SECOH staff and customers, last year’s Haunted House elicited screams, yells and howls from the attendees. Their comments included: “Awseome!” “Very impressive!” “It was scary!” “Loved it!” SECOH executive director Sandra Yoro said, “This year’s event promises to be just as scary and will include interactive opportunities to scare the daylights out of those brave enough to venture forth!” There will also be interactive, but less scary activities to entertain the keiki while mom and dad enjoy the thrill of being harmlessly frightened.
SECOH is a private not for profit organization that provides a wide range of personalized services for people with disabilities of all ages in the spirit of enriching lives. Services are designed to sustain people with disabilities in their homes to avoid institutionalization in long term care facilities such as nursing homes. Day Services for people with disabilities are offered in six Oahu locations: Ewa Beach, Wahiawa, Waipahu, Pearl City, Kalihi and Kahala. Adult Day Care for elderly individuals is available in the Kahala and Wahiawa centers. Other support services include Respite, Personal Assistance/ Habilitation and Skilled Nursing.
