Montessori Education for the Whole Child
We employ the Montessori Method which emphasizes the development of all facets of a child's unfolding personality - social, emotional, cognitive and physical. Our child-centered prepared environment contains a wide variety of materials from which a child may choose an activity which supports the development of the whole child. The Montessori teacher acts as a monitor and guide to encourage exploration, discover, trial, practice and success. Early manual skills that develop motor coordination lead to an understanding of weight, size, space, terminology, and other basic concepts of mathematics and language. Each achievement opens a new and exciting challenge for the child. Our environment is specially prepared to provide the child the opportunity to develop and grow to become a successful and independent thinker and seeker of knowledge.

The Child Center
L. Robert Allen Montessori Center is a demonstration school for Chaminade University of Honolulu. The Center is a living memorial to Father Chaminade's vision of Catholic and Marianist education. As an integral part of the University's Education Department, the Center serves as a laboratory to provide practicum experiences for the Montessori Teacher Training Program.
Laboratory School Professional Teaching Staff
Our highly qualified staff are professional trained Montessori teachers who have graduated from Chaminade's Montessori Teacher Training Program. Teachers have their Master's degree in Early Childhood Education and Montessori Certification through American Montessori Society.
The Montessori Teacher Training Program is a professional training program for teachers of young children. It prepares and trains candidates to conduct classes for children between the ages of 3-6 years in a Montessori setting. Candidates that complete the program receive a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and Montessori Certification.
