HPR Brings Moananuiākea to Hawai‘i Island, O‘ahu, and Kaua‘i

Documentary screenings will feature Q&A with Hōkūleʻa crew

HPR invites the community to a series of screening events for "Moananuiākea," the powerful documentary celebrating Hōkūleʻa's historic Mālama Honua worldwide voyage that connected countless individuals and communities from around the globe. It was a voyage that also represented the fulfillment of the vision of Nainoa Thompson and his contemporaries--the passing of the mantle to the next generation of kānaka maoli who will retain the skills of their ancestors and perpetuate this tradition for generations to come.

The film is produced by Nāʻālehu Anthony, Bryson Hoe and Maui Tauotaha, respectively director, writer and editor, all of whom served as crewmembers on Hōkūleʻa.

Screenings will be followed by a Q&A with members of Hōkūleʻa crew.
