The Statewide Cultural Extension Program (SCEP), a program of UH Mānoa Outreach College, expands its SCEP Live Online offerings with a fall concert series. For four consecutive Fridays, starting on August 28th, live musical performances by local artists will be streamed for audiences to enjoy in the comfort and safety of their own homes. The free hour-long performances will start at 7:00pm. Please email
csinfo@hawaii.edu with your name and the performances/dates you are interested in. Confirmations will be emailed with login information.

On August 28, musicians Jeff Peterson, Benny Chong, Ian O’Sullivan and Nathan Aweau bring their guitar, ukulele, bass and vocal talents to perform classical, jazz, Hawaiian and music from other parts of the world.

Nathan Aweau:  Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Nathan Aweau’s illustrious career has included accompanying performers such as Gabe Baltazar, Henry Kapono, and Loyal Garner to name a few. He has been part of award-winning groups Ka’eo, The Ali’is and Hapa. Local music critic Wayne Harada once said, “Nathan is that distinguished rarity…a jack of all trades, master of a wide domain.”

Benny Chong: Benny Chong is a founding member of The Aliis a group together with Don Ho, rose to international fame in the 1960s. Benny has taken jazz ‘uke playing to a new level because of the musical challenges of his repertoire and the complexity of his left and right hand techniques that no one before him or currently has ever mastered or even thought about.

Ian O’Sullivan: Described as “thoughtful” by Classical Guitar and praised by the Honolulu Advertiser as “delightful,” Ian O’Sullivan is a guitarist and composer from the North Shore of O‘ahu. He is well-versed in Hawaiian slack-key guitar and the ‘ukulele, in addition to the Western classical repertoire.

Jeff Peterson: With his mastery of slack-key, classical, and jazz guitar, Jeff Peterson expresses a unique and transcendent voice while remaining deeply rooted in the traditions of his Hawaiian heritage. Jeff has contributed to two Grammy Award-winning recordings and has been honored with nine Na Hōkū Hanohano Awards.
The fall concert series is a joint effort between the
UH Mānoa Outreach College, UH Mānoa Music Department, the East-West Center Arts Program, and Friends of Manoa Library.a
