About Councimember Stanley Chang:
I'm lucky to have gone to some of the best schools in the world. But the most meaningful education I've ever received was in the values my parents instilled in me. Hard work. Responsibility. Humility. Honesty. These are some of the values that will guide me every day, in every decision I make, while serving on the City Council for District 4.

On the Council:
I chair the Public Works and Sustainability Committee of the City Council, which oversees roads, sewers, our water supply, waste disposal, and other basic infrastructure needs of the city. In addition, we are committed to a more environmentally sustainable city, focusing on net-zero waste generation and developing new sources of clean energy. I am vice chair of the Budget Committee, which oversees the $2 billion annual budget of the City and County of Honolulu.

Personal Background:
I'm a lifelong resident of City Council District 4. I was born in the old Kaiser Hospital in Waikiki, and I moved with my family into our present house in Kahala when I was still an infant. I attended Wai-Kahala Preschool and Kahala Elementary School, then 'Iolani School for middle and high school. I graduated at the top of my class and earned scholarships to attend Harvard College, where I graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in government. After working a year at SonyBMG Music Entertainment in New York, I continued my education at Harvard Law School, graduating cum laude. Most recently, I practiced law at Cades Schutte in downtown Honolulu, specializing in real estate law.

Community Service:
As an active member of our community, I am passionate about community service. In my capacity on the City Council, I currently serve on the boards of the National Association of Counties, the Hawaii State Association of Counties, the Waikiki Business Improvement District Association, the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution, the Kapiolani Park Trust, and the Government and Public Utility Task Force. Previously, I served on the boards of the Organization of Chinese Americans, the Kahala Community Association, the Chinatown Business and Community Association, the Harvard Club of Hawaii, and Family Promise. In addition, I am a member of the Livable Hawaii Kai Hui, the Hawaii Economic Association, and the 'Iolani Alumni Association.
