Saint Louis School Earns Accreditation Triple Crown

Honolulu, Hawaii. Saint Louis School has been granted a six-year accreditation term from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools (HAIS), and the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) effective through June 30, 2019.

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is one of six regional accrediting associations in the United States. The Hawaii Association of Independent Schools (HAIS) is an organization of member schools that advocates on behalf of independent education in Hawaii and participates actively in the educational dialogue in our community. It provides services that strengthen the individual schools, and it supports their efforts to achieve educational quality and excellence for students. The Western Catholic Educational Association is a private educational accrediting agency established under the auspices of the Bishops of the Catholic (Arch) Dioceses of California. The mission of WCEA is to promote quality Catholic education for students in our member elementary and secondary schools through an accrediting process that assures the primacy of faith formation and educational excellence.

The original purpose of accreditation in the United States was designed to encourage the standardization of secondary school programs, primarily to ensure for the benefit of colleges and universities that graduating students had mastered a particular body of knowledge. However, today the process developed by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), involves a dual purpose that continues the expectation that schools must be worthy of the trust placed in them to provide high quality learning opportunities.

"I am ecstatic that our School earned the maximum six-year WASC, HAIS and WCEA accreditation term, said Saint Louis School President Walter Kirimitsu '58. This accreditation validates our efforts to all of our stakeholders that we are doing things right at Saint Louis School. I am so very proud of our School Board of Trustees, Alumni Association, and Principal, Ms. Patricia Hamamoto, the Administration, Faculty, Staff and our families. It was a total team effort - it truly is a great day to be a Crusader!" stated Kirimitsu.
