Hawaiian Electric to host e-waste recycling drive-thru Oct. 11 at its Ward Baseyard visitor parking lot, 820 Ward Ave. Public drop off scheduled Saturday, 8 a.m. - Noon

HONOLULU, Sept. 29, 2025 – Hawaiian Electric will hold a free e-waste collection and recycling drive-thru for the public on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., at 820 Ward Avenue, across Blaisdell Center. During the event, the company will accept the following items:

  • Batteries (alkaline, lead acid, UPS)
  • Computers (desktop, laptop, monitors) and IT peripherals
  • Cell phones
  • Hard drives
  • Power cords
  • Printers
  • TVs (flat screen or CRT)

For a fee, data destruction services to permanently remove sensitive information from hard drives, cell phones, data tapes and other media are available but require registration in advance at eopala.com/register/. Prices vary based on the number of items requiring digital destruction.

Please do not bring cooking appliances, electric personal items, floor fans and vacuums, stereo equipment and speakers, hazardous materials, construction and demolition waste, Christmas lights and lightbulbs, lithium-ion batteries and propane tanks. 

The electric vehicle charging stations at Hawaiian Electric’s Ward Baseyard will remain accessible during the e-waste event. Makai-bound traffic along Ward Ave. may experience delays.
