Utility work Wed. to impact traffic in ʻAiea and Kaimukī
Work on 2/18 in both areas scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m.
HONOLULU, Feb. 17, 2026 -- Hawaiian Electric will perform separate utility projects in ‘Aiea and Kaimukī on Wednesday, Feb. 18, involving lane closures as follows:
Ulune Street, 8:30 a.m. -- 3:30 p.m.
Crews will replace overhead power lines and equipment on several utility poles along Ulune Street, partially closing the eastbound lane of Ulune between ʻAiea Heights Drive and Anounou Street from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Special duty police and flagmen will provide traffic control, including brief stops to allow vehicles to pass in the open travel lane.
Kaimukī and Kapahulu avenues, 8:30 a.m. -- 2:30 p.m.
Crews will replace a transformer and upgrade equipment on a single utility pole along Kaimukī Avenue at the intersection with Kapahulu Avenue near Crane Basketball Courts from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The work will partially close the eastbound lane of Kaimukī Ave. between Kapahulu Ave. and Belser Street with traffic contraflowed and some driveways temporarily blocked. ʻNo parkingʻ barricades will indicate restricted access.
In addition, the right northbound lane of Kapahulu Ave. approaching Kaimukī Ave. will be closed, and the far left southbound lane of Kapahulu Ave. approaching Kaimukī Ave. will be closed and motorists will be restricted from turning left onto Kaimukī Ave. Special duty police and flagmen will provide traffic control.
Safety signs and traffic cones will mark the work zones. Due to the nature of the work, the traffic plans may change without notice for the safety of the public and crews.
Motorists are encouraged to slow down when approaching and passing the work zones, expect traffic delays or use alternate routes when possible.
