  • Hawaiian Electric Traffic Advisory - Utility Work Thurs. To Impact Kaimuk / Kapahulu Area Traffic

Utility work Thurs. to impact Kaimukī / Kapahulu area traffic

Work on 3/12 scheduled 8:30 a.m. -- 2:30 p.m.

HONOLULU, March 10, 2026 -- Weather permitting, Hawaiian Electric has rescheduled replacement of a transformer and equipment upgrades on a utility pole along Kaimukī Avenue on Thursday, March 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The work near the Crane Basketball Courts will partially close the eastbound lane of Kaimukī Ave. between Kapahulu Avenue and Belser Street with traffic contraflowed and some driveways temporarily blocked. ʻNo parking' barricades will indicate restricted access.

Crews also will close the right northbound lane of Kapahulu Ave. approaching Kaimukī Ave. The far left southbound lane of Kapahulu Ave. approaching Kaimukī Ave. also will be closed and motorists will be restricted from turning left onto Kaimukī Ave. Special duty police and flagmen will provide traffic control.

Safety signs and traffic cones will mark the work zones. Due to the nature of the work, the traffic plans may change without notice for the safety of the public and crews.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down when approaching and passing the work zones, expect traffic delays or use alternate routes when possible.
