Kaimuki is a great place to go green! Our goal for this webpage is to promote the message of going green within our great community of Kaimuki. You will be surprised to find out that we have plenty of resources to go green and we have mapped these out for you. Please support the sponsors of this webpage, it is through them that we are able to provide these great resources for you as we strive to Go Green in Kaimuki!
What is Going Green?
Simply put, going green means to pursue a lifestyle that is environment-friendly. The goal is to help protect the environment and sustain its natural resources for current and future generations to come.
There are two ways to dispose of your recyclables properly. You can bring them to our Community Recycling Bins or to your nearest Redemption Center.
Recycle Bins in Kaimuki Area
Some schools in the Kaimuki area have set up Community Recycling Bins that you can help support. Each month, these participating schools receive a check from City Department of Environmental Services for the recyclable materials collected in their bins. By taking your recyclables (aluminum cans, glass bottles & jars, plastic containers, newspapers, cardboard, etc) to these Recycling Bins, you also help support the school's fundraising efforts.
Redemption Centers In Kaimuki Area
Redemption Centers accept various recyclables like beverage containers, waste paper, cardboard, ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal, appliances, and plastic. Going to these centers not only help our efforts in going green, you also get some of your money back for recycling.
