Join us for a journey into the heart of Hawaiian culture with our Beginning Hula class! Under the expert guidance of Kumu Hula Piʻilani Hanohano, you will explore the beautiful and expressive art of hula. This six-week course, held every Wednesday from June 18 to July 23, will introduce you to the fundamental steps, movements, and chants of traditional Hawaiian hula. Classes will be held at the Maile Dance Studio on the Kapiʻolani Community College campus, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for beginners.

No prior dance experience is needed - just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to learn! Dress comfortably. Hand towels and water bottle with a closed lid is permitted.

Taiko, the traditional Japanese drumming art form, captivates audiences with its powerful rhythms, dynamic movements, and profound cultural roots. Under the expert instruction of Kenny Endo and the talented team from the Taiko Center of the Pacific, participants will have the chance to delve into the fundamentals of Taiko, master advanced techniques, and even engage in performance training.

Kapi‘olani Community College is offering a diverse range of Taiko classes tailored to accommodate everyone, from beginners to seasoned drummers.

Open to the public through registration.

Adult Beginning I Taiko (ART3007)
An introductory class that teaches the fundamentals of Taiko drumming, including proper grip, stance, form, terminology and etiquette specific to Taiko, and simple practice pieces.
