Join us in this online webinar where we will discuss what tariffs are and go further into the understanding the real costs and benefits of tariffs. Who are the winners and losers of tariffs? We will take a deeper dive into what high-rate tariffs versus low-rate tariffs are, relative success of wartime and peacetime tariffs and results of protectionist versus open-trade economies in America.

About The Speaker Dr. Larry Schiff

Dr. Larry Schiff

Dr. Larry Schiff is currently an adjunct professor in International Finance, International Economics, Corporate Finance, & Organizational Behavior at the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa. He has spent much of his career as a Bank Supervisor Officer and commercial bank examiner with the Federal Reserve System in Dallas, Washington D.C. and New York.

His recent corporate leadership roles include Senior Vice President, Credit Risk Management at Central Pacific Bank where he was in charge of credit reporting, delivering and presenting the monthly/quarterly credit-related results to the Board; Officer-in-Charge, Large and Regional Bank Supervision at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, San Antonio Branch where he was the head bank regulator for all large and regional commercial banks in central and southern Texas; Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Risk Management Officer of East West Bank in Pasadena, California.

His earlier career experience includes the Director of National Credit Risk Management Practice at KPMG in Los Angeles, California; Group Vice President in SunTrust Bankʻs Credit Risk Management Division in Atlanta, Georgia and as the Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer of Pioneer Federal Savings Bank in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi.

Dr. Schiff has a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Pennsylvaniaʻs Wharton School. He is also a Honolulu Civic Organization Member of the BPOE Elks of the U.S. and the Hawaiʻi Executive Network Council.
